How ALL Muslims commit the one sin Allah does not forgive
The only sin Allah does not forgive is that of associating partners with Allah, i.e. worshipping anyone or anything else other than or in addition to Allah. The Quran says,
“Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allah in worship, he has indeed invented a tremendous sin.”
(Surah 4:48)
And again,
“Verily! Allah forgives not (the sin of) setting up partners in worship with Him, but He forgives whom he pleases sins other than that, and whoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, has indeed strayed far away.”
(Surah 4:116)
Muhammad himself explains what it means to worship somebody other than God. The Quran says,
“They have taken their scholars and monks as lords besides Allah , and [also] the Messiah, the son of Mary. And they were not commanded except to worship one God; there is no deity except Him. Exalted is He above whatever they associate with Him.”
(Surah 9:31)
In explaining how exactly Jews and Christians worship their rabbis and monks, Muhammad himself explains,
“…They (rabbis and monks) prohibited the allowed for them (Christians and Jews) and allowed the prohibited, and they obeyed them. This is how they worshipped them.)…”
(See Tafsir Ibn Kathir on Surah 9:31 and Jamir At’Tirmidhi Book 47 and Hadith 147)
So if God allows something and some one else prohibits it and you follow what someone else prohibits, you are associating partners with God and are guilty of a sin that Allah, the god of Islam, will not forgive. This is problematic for all kinds of Muslims.
For the “peaceful and moderate” Muslims in the West, this poses a problem because Allah says whoever believes in him should fight, hate and live in animosity towards as many as do not believe in him. The Quran says,
“Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture — [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled.”
(Surah 9:29)
And again,
“O ye who believe! Choose not disbelievers for (your) friends in place of believers. Would ye give Allah a clear warrant against you?”
(Surah 4:144)
And again,
“O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for friends. They are friends one to another. He among you who taketh them for friends is (one) of them.”
(Surah 5:51)
And again,
“ There has already been for you an excellent pattern in Abraham and those with him, when they said to their people, “Indeed, we are disassociated from you and from whatever you worship other than Allah. We have denied you, and there has appeared between us and you animosity and hatred forever until you believe in Allah alone” except for the saying of Abraham to his father, “I will surely ask forgiveness for you, but I have not [power to do] for you anything against Allah. Our Lord, upon You we have relied, and to You we have returned, and to You is the destination.”
(Surah 60:4)
The problem though is that Western governments (for now at least), prohibit the killing of or discrimination against people on the basis of religion. While there is no law against hating them in the heart, the expression of this hatred to the extent mandated by Islam would be illegal by the laws of Western governments. To make it simple, Allah says Jihad is halal, the western governments say Jihad is haram, every peaceful and moderate Muslim who obeys the western government (again, thank God they do!) in preference to Allah is actually worshipping the western government based on Muhammad’s definition of worship.
Now by “peaceful and moderate” Muslims, I mean those who truly (but erroneously) believe Islam is compatible with their peaceful disposition. Technically, Surah 16:106, the famous “Taqiyya” verses would allow for a devout Muslim who believes in Jihad and such to pretend they are in agreement with the government on anti-Jihad policies (War is deceit according to Muhammad after all) while not deviating from the true Islam (which teaches war against the infidel) in his heart. Such Muslims will not be worshipping the government in these circumstances but even they are not exempt from committing the unforgivable sin as a result.
The real Muslims who take Islam seriously are also guilty of this unforgivable sin. How?
First, there are instances where Allah says one thing in the Quran and then Muhammad says something contradictory in the hadith yet Muslims follow what Muhammad says in the hadith.
Consider this, Allah in the Quran says Muslims should pray three times a day,
“And keep up prayer in the two parts of the day and in the first hours of the night…”
(Surah 11:114)
Muslims however pray five times a day because Muhammad says so in the hadith.
Another instance has to do with “Mut’ah marriage”. Mutah marriage is an Islamic practise where you “marry” a woman for a few days or hours and pay “dowry” in exchange for “marital relations”, then get divorced afterwards. The rest of the world calls this prostitution but Muslims call it “marriage”. This is sanctioned by Allah in the Quran (Please see Surah 4:24 and the Tafsirs for it), however a lot of Muslims today do not practise this because Muhammad forbids it in the hadith. Now to be clear, the hadith literature on this is very contradictory. Muhammad forbids then allows then forbids then allows and the position is not clear. However the point still stands. If Allah has made Mut'ah halal, why in the world is there a debate based on whether or not Muhammad may or may not have made it haram?
Allah says pray three times, Muhammad says pray five times so Muslims pray five times. Allah says Mut’ah is halal, Muhammad (potentially) says Mut’ah is haram so a lot of Muslims say it has now been prohibited. Who is the real God here? Allah or Muhammad?
Secondly, the Quran is one of the most incoherent books on the planet. It is incapable of standing alone. If you read the Quran, it is impossible to make sense of it. The verses are all mingled together not having any linear relationship with the previous or subsequent ones in most cases, some verses abrogate others without making it clear which ones are abrogating which, the chapters are not chronological e.t.c. It is for reasons like this that Anthony Flew said “To read the Quran is to penance”. The only way to even attempt to make sense of the Quran is to defer to Tafsirs i.e. explanations of the Quran given by classical Islamic scholars. The problem with this though is that these Tafsirs in giving their explanation will flat out contradict the Quran in some instances!
The classic case of this is the notion that the Christians and Jews scriptures are corrupted. However the Quran itself does nothing but affirm the scriptures of Jews and Christians saying Allah himself revealed it and nobody can change his words! Yet the Tafsirs, Imams and scholars of Islam would die on the hill that the Bible is corrupted! So are these Muslims not worshipping their scholars when they take the “Tafsirs” of the scholars and the words of their Imams rather than the very words of Allah himself? Allah says our Bible is halal (and not only that in Surah 2:85 Allah says he will condemn those who believe in only a part of the Bible to hell!) , Imams, Tafsir scholars and apologists say our Bible is haram (and we should only believe in parts of the Bible which line up with Islam) and Muslims go with the latter! Muslims are thus, by Muhammad’s definition, worshipping their clerics and scholars instead of Allah.
Furthermore, the Tafsirs also “clarify” what Allah means even when the Quran over and over again brags about being a very clear book! Muslims then go with the clarification of the scholars rather than Allah’s very clear book! This too is worship according to Muhammad.
Then finally, some one might be grinning and saying to themselves, “Now this is why I am a Quran only Muslim! I only go with the Quran, nothing else!”. Problem is this is an impossible position to hold Islamically speaking because the Quran consistently COMMANDS Muslims to obey Muhammad!
“He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah…”
(Surah 4:80)
And again,
“But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe until they make you, [O Muhammad], judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves and then find within themselves no discomfort from what you have judged and submit in [full, willing] submission.”
(Surah 4:65)
In fact there is no Surah that says a Muslim should OBEY Allah alone. It is always Obey Allah and his messenger! In addition, Surah 4:80 above equates obedience to the messenger as obedience to Allah! So without obeying the messenger you cannot obey Allah! How do you know what the messenger said and did without the hadith?
You cannot be a true Muslim without submitting to the judgments of Muhammad according to Surah 4:65, how do you know the judgments of Muhammad outside the hadith?
In conclusion, it is impossible to be a Muslim without, based on Muhammad’s definition of Surah 9:31, associating partners with Allah be it the government, Islamic clerics/ scholars or the one partner Allah associates with himself, Muhammad, as it is written in the Quran,
“It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair. And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly strayed into clear error.”
(Surah 33:36)
If this is the case, Muslims need to find a new religion, not one that condemns them to hell for all eternity according to its own dictates.
