I don't think anybody ever argues that martyrdom proves truth, it is usually part of a cumulative case to evidence the resurrection.

The martyrdom element of it is just to buttress the fact the numerous disciples who went to their deaths for what they believed they saw were not simply making up their accounts this adding gravitas to their claim that they actually saw the resurrected Christ.
