Jesus and His apostles prophesied about Islam
One of the key arguments of the Quran as to why Christians and Jews should affirm Muhammad and his revelations is that Islam and Muhammad are prophesied in the previous scriptures. Hence our Muslim friends jump through all kinds of hoops to show that Muhammad is indeed prophesied in the scriptures of the Christians and Jews, today, I will show beyond doubt that Muhammad is indeed prophesied by Jesus Himself and then His apostles.
First, Jesus in the gospel of John says to His disciples,
“… the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service.”
(John 16:2)
Muhammad‘s revelations command his followers,
“Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture — [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled.”
(Surah 9:29)
The kind of fight being commanded is made clear not only by the use of the Arabic word “Qatala” which means “to fight to kill” but also by the contractual terms between Allah and his followers in the same Surah,
“Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise. They fight in the cause of Allah , so they kill and are killed...”
(Surah 9:111)
So clearly Muslims who take the teachings of Muhammad seriously see killing of Christians and Jews as a sacred act of worship to their god. “Jihad” or holy war from Muhammad’s paradigm is the greatest of deeds. According to open doors analysis of the 50 countries where Christians are most persecuted, 31 out of 50 are directly linked to Islamic oppression while Islam is the dominant religion in 33 out of the 50 countries. This is not coincidental and thus Muhammad perfectly fulfils that prophecy from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Secondly, Jesus warned that false prophets will arise among the people and gave His followers a sure-fire way to test them,
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorn bushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.”
(Matthew 7:15–20)
I doubt there has been a prophet more false than Muhammad. It is difficult to argue that the fruit of Muhammad, murder, hate, child marriage, sex slavery, wife beating (to mention a few) are good fruit. I link some of my other articles exploring and showing these things in detail below.
Secondly on this point, the Torah teaches us how to know if someone has spoken in the name of the true God or not,
“And if you say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?’ — when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.”
(Deuteronomy 18:21)
Muhammad gave numerous false prophecies, for example,
“Anas b. Malik reported that a person asked Allah’s Apostle (ﷺ):
When would the Last Hour come? Thereupon Allah’s Messenger (way peace be upon him) kept quiet for a while. Then looked at a young boy in his presence belonging to the tribe of Azd Shanu’a and he said: If this boy lives he would not grow very old till the Last Hour would come to you. Anas said that this young boy was of our age during those days.”
(Sahih Muslim Book 54 Hadith 172)
I do not know what time zone you are in but where I am the judgment has not arrived more than 1000 years after this boy must have died.
Also Muhammad died in exactly the way his revelations said he would die if he was fabricating revelations,
“And if he [i.e., Muḥammad] had made up about Us some [false] sayings, we would have seized him by the right hand; Then We would have cut from him the aorta. And there is no one of you who could prevent [Us] from him.”
(Surah 69:44–47)
Compare with his own testimony to the cause of his death,
“Narrated `Aisha:
The Prophet (ﷺ) in his ailment in which he died, used to say, “O `Aisha! I still feel the pain caused by the food I ate at Khaibar, and at this time, I feel as if my aorta is being cut from that poison.”
(Sahih Bukhari Book 64 Hadith 450)
So according to both the Bible and the Quran, Muhammad was a false prophet based on every conceivable criteria.
Third, the apostles of Jesus warned us that false teachers would arise bringing damnable heresies,
“But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction”
(2 Peter 2:1)
Notice the exact heresies the false teachers would bring in? Heresies that deny the work of the Lord Jesus and thus lead to destruction. The work being denied here is redemptive in nature hence the term “The Lord who bought them”. What does Muhammad teach? That Jesus did not die on the cross and rise from the dead for sin. Muhammad specifically denies the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. He would thus fall under the broad category of false prophets this scripture addresses.
Finally, Paul warned against people who get revelations “even if from heaven” which contradict the gospel,
“But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.”
(Galatians 1:8–9)
Paul places a double curse on Muhammad for his teachings which deny the gospel. The same Paul elsewhere expresses his concern about those preaching “another Jesus”,
“But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted — you may well put up with it!”
(2 Corinthians 11:3–4)
Within the same flow of thought and in the same connection, Paul goes on to say,
“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.”
(2 Corinthians 11:13–15)
He equates those preaching another Jesus to ministers of Satan. Think about this, who has preached “another Jesus” more than Muhammad? Even the modern day alphabet guys who try to turn Jesus into an “ally” have not been as terrible as Muhammad. Muhammad’s Jesus is not divine and just goes around declaring “There is one God guys! Only one God! Worship this one God!” which does not make sense of why they would want to put Him to death, every first century Jew believed in one God! The Jesus of the Quran is just a mouthpiece for Muhammad’s propaganda and in the hadith, he returns to wage Jihad and impose Shariah. Paul calls Muhammad a minister of Satan.
An ancillary point is that Paul also intimates that “angelic revelations” contradicting scripture are from Satan masquerading as an angel of light. This is trite! With Muhammad, we do not have to look too far because the angel who appeared to him choked him and almost killed him so from a Biblical perspective, it is definitely Satan who appeared to him and was wrongly designated as “The angel Gabriel” by his wife and uncle. Again, articles diving deeper into this have been linked below.
Now, a lot of these prophecies (except the first one) are a bit of a stretch and are general categories which Muhammad just happens to fit into but the point remains. Our Muslim friends have to twist and distort scripture to get a positive Biblical prophecy of Muhammad however the category of Biblical prophecy Muhammad actually and consistently fits very nicely and naturally into are those regarding false prophets.
Think about that!
