Why we cannot trust Muhammad according to Islam’s most trusted sources (Part 3)
In the earlier instalments of this article, we have gone through why we cannot trust Muhammad. We explored the most likely demonic origins of his revelation, his own self doubt about his revelation and we examined the Quran in light of its own falsifiability test, i.e. that the book would be full of contradictions if it was not from God. We proceeded to show all manner of contradictions within the Quran.
In this instalment, we would examine Islam in light of the Torah, the Gospels and the epistles. Where to begin?
First, there is a lack of continuity between Islam and the religions in whose mould it claims to come from, i.e. Judaism and Christianity. Judaism and Christianity are unified in the sense that they expect a suffering Messiah. Jesus Himself said,
“ Then He said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory? ”
(Luke 24:25–26)
And again,
“Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.
Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day”
(Luke 24:44–46)
David prophesied in the Psalms,
“For dogs have surrounded Me;
The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me.
They pierced My hands and My feet;
I can count all My bones.
They look and stare at Me.
They divide My garments among them,
And for My clothing they cast lots.”
(Psalm 22:16–18)
The prophet Isaiah states,
“Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”
(Isaiah 53:4–6)
The prophet Zechariah says,
“And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn.”
(Zechariah 12:10)
I can go on for hundreds of verses but I think the above verses suffice to make the point. The message of Muhammed to the effect that Jesus did not die on the cross at all is in conflict with Judaism and Islam.
Not only this, Muhammad also came 600 years after the fact. He testified to things he was not a witness to. Why should we trust the testimony of a person who came 600 years after the fact over and above those who were first century eye witnesses? Why should we trust the revelation of Muhammad over and above thousands of years of Jewish prophecies?
So in one fell swoop, Muhammad goes against not just religious jurisprudence but secular history as well. The death of Jesus on the cross is virtually indisputable at this point with no less than eight first century sources. It is a fact accepted by historians from across the spectrum. (Bart Ehrman, John Dominic Crossan, Gary Habermas, Paula Fredriksen to mention a few), the Quran goes against established historical fact.
Secondly, the Quran states that the Jews believe Ezra is the son of God,
“The Jews say, “Ezra is the son of Allāh…”
(Surah 9:30)
WILL THE JEW WHO BELIEVES IN EZRA PLEASE STAND UP?
This is a complete historical fabrication. This is a belief that is completely made up. Yes, the Jews held all manner of beliefs particularly around the Son of Man figure in Daniel 7 but Ezra was never a candidate in that conversation.
This is the second claim Muhammad makes that contradicts both history and Christian/Jewish theology.
Third, according to Christian theology, Muhammad would not only be a false prophet, he would be an anti-Christ and a liar.
John writes,
“ Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son.”
(1 John 2:22)
And again,
“Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him; for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.”
(2 John 1: 9–11)
Muhammad’s big message was that God has no sons. In fact with trademark infallible logic, he posits,
“[He is] Originator of the heavens and the earth. How could He have a son when He does not have a companion [i.e., wife]…”
(Surah 6:101)
Allah, the almighty God, needs a wife to have a son. In fact, Muhammad emphasizes this again when he says,
“That they attribute to the Most Merciful a son.
And it is not appropriate for the Most Merciful that He should take a son.
There is no one in the heavens and earth but that he comes to the Most Merciful as a servant.”
(Surah 19:92–94)
According to Christian theology, Muhammad denied the Father and the Son hence he is an anti-Christ. He preached that Jesus did not die on the cross but if Jesus did not die on the cross or suffer, He could not be the Christ, hence Muhammad is a liar according to Christian theology.
Furthermore, his message should not be received into the Christian household or greeted according to 2 John.
Fourth, Muhammad’s own original audience did not trust a word he said and accused him of being a plagiarist. They mocked his revelation and called him “an ear” who believes whatever he is told.
“And when Our verses are recited to them, they say, “We have heard. If we willed, we could say [something] like this. This is not but legends of the former peoples.”
(Surah 8:31)
And again,
“And among them are those who abuse the Prophet and say, “He is an ear.”…”
(Surah 9:61)
His audience believed he brought nothing new or fantastic to the table and they were not impressed by his revelation. Unlike Jesus who not only talked the talked but did works befitting of His claims,
“ If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen and also hated both Me and My Father”
(John 15:24)
And again,
“Jesus answered them, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?”
(John 10:32)
And again,
“And John, calling two of his disciples to him, sent them to Jesus, saying, “Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?”
When the men had come to Him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to You, saying, ‘Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?’ ” And that very hour He cured many of infirmities, afflictions, and evil spirits; and to many blind He gave sight.
Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”
(Luke 7:19–23)
Muhammad on the other hand, was all talk. Little wonder his audience felt they could do what he was doing (i.e. say a bunch of stuff). Nobody in Jesus’ audience felt they could do the works He was doing (i.e. raising the dead and such).
It gets a bit more problematic when you consider that Muhammad was plagiarizing and mixing up sources. He plagiarized apocryphal gospels which are ahistorical and fabrications centuries after Jesus. If he passes off ahistorical accounts of Jesus (e.g. Him making a living bird from clay) as revelation from Allah, that questions the veracity of his book.
Muhammad also plagiarizes the Talmud and mistakes this for the Torah.
According to the Quran,
“Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land — it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one — it is as if he had saved mankind entirely.”
(Surah 5:32)
However this statement comes directly from the Babylonian Talmud,
“In capital cases one is held responsible for the blood of the accused and the blood of his potential descendants until the end of time, for thus we find in the case of Cain, who killed his brother, that it is written: “your brother’s bloods cry out to Me” (Gen 4:10): Not the blood of your brother, but the bloods of your brother, is said — i.e. his blood and the blood of his potential descendants. […] For this reason was man [adam] created alone, to teach you that whoever destroys a single soul Scripture imputes guilt to him as though he had destroyed a complete world; and whosoever preserves a single soul, Scripture ascribes merit to him as though he had preserved a complete world.”
(Talmud Sanhedrin 37a)
This is massive!
Muhammad believed that the Talmud, which is the commentary of rabbis on the Torah, which is revealed, was part of the revealed Torah. Much like being unable to distinguish the devil from the angel Gabriel, apocryphal sources from the true gospels, sexual experiences from hallucination, satanic verses from divine revelation, Muhammad was unable to distinguish between the Torah and the Talmud.
Fifth and finally for our purposes, Muhammad does not share the same ethics of Judaism and Christianity. He orders and sanctions killings at will. This is in conflict with the sanctity of life befitting of the image of God within Judaism and Christianity. Something which, ironically, Muhammad himself affirmed with respect to the Jewish belief in Surah 5:32.
Muhammad says his mission is to fight (in Arabic, “fight to kill”) people until they submit to his religion. He orders his followers to kill whoever changes his religion. He sanctions a man’s killing of the mother of his kids over an allegation that she blasphemed him.
He married a child at six and had sex with her at nine, claiming this child was given to him as a wife,
“Narrated `Aisha:
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said (to me), “You were shown to me in a dream. An angel brought you to me, wrapped in a piece of silken cloth, and said to me, ‘This is your wife.’ I removed the piece of cloth from your face, and there you were. I said to myself. ‘If it is from Allah, then it will surely be.’ “
(Sahih Bukhari Book 67 Hadith 61)
and again,
“Narrated `Aisha:
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said to me, “You were shown to me twice (in my dream) before I married you. I saw an angel carrying you in a silken piece of cloth, and I said to him, ‘Uncover (her),’ and behold, it was you. I said (to myself), ‘If this is from Allah, then it must happen.’ Then you were shown to me, the angel carrying you in a silken piece of cloth, and I said (to him), ‘Uncover (her), and behold, it was you. I said (to myself), ‘If this is from Allah, then it must happen.’ “
(Book 91 Hadith 30)
The reference of the marriage to Aisha, rather one of many, is reproduced below,
“Narrated `Aisha:
that the Prophet (ﷺ) married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e., till his death).”
(Sahih Bukhari Book 67 Hadith 9)
Muhammad took his adopted son’s wife after causing the divorce by lusting for her. Muhammad had sex slaves and permitted his followers to bang them against their will,
“It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri that the Prophet of Allah sent an army to Awtas. They met the enemy, fought them, and prevailed over them. They acquired female prisoners who had husbands among the idolaters. The Muslims felt reluctant to be intimate with them. Then Allah, the Mighty and Sublime revealed:
“Also (forbidden are) women already married, except those (slaves) whom your right hands possess,”
(Sunan An-Nasai Book 26 Hadith 128)
The ethics of this man are markedly different, from the prophets before him.
Speaking of prophets before him, there is no prophet in Judaism or Christianity who brought glory to themselves or pointed people to believe in them.
Jesus, the one person who did that, is not a Christian prophet, He is God in the flesh. Muhammad however put himself at the center of Islam just as Christ is at the center of Christianity.
So for instance Jesus says,
“He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.”
(Matthew 10:37)
Muhammad says in the Hadith,
“The Prophet (ﷺ) said “None of you will have faith till he loves me more than his father, his children and all mankind.”
(Book 2 Hadith 8)
Jesus says,
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.”
(John 14:1)
Muhammad says in the hadith,
“… He ordered them to believe in Allah Alone, the Honorable the Majestic and said to them, “Do you know what is meant by believing in Allah Alone?” They replied, “Allah and His Apostle know better.” Thereupon the Prophet (ﷺ) said, “(That means to testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is His Apostle…”
(Sahih Bukhari Book 3 Hadith 29)
To believe in Allah ALONE means to worship Allah AND ACKNOWLEDGE MUHAMMAD AS A PROPHET.
Jesus says,
“If you love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15)
Muhammad in the Quran says,
“But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe until they make you, [O Muḥammad], judge concerning that over which they dispute among themselves and then find within themselves no discomfort from what you have judged and submit in [full, willing] submission”
(Surah 4:65)
Jesus says,
“He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.”
(Matthew 10:40)
Thus emphasizing that He speaks the words of God and in God’s stead. To accept Him is to accept God,
Muhammad says something similar in the Quran,
“It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allāh and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair. And whoever disobeys Allāh and His Messenger has certainly strayed into clear error.:
(Surah 33:36)
And again,
“He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allāh…”
(Surah 4:80)
To obey Muhammad is to obey Allah. Allah and Muhammad are the ones who make the decisions and it is only when a person submits to Muhammad without question that they can truly become a Muslim.
Now notice how Muhammad is at the center of Islam just as Jesus is at the center of Christianity. Only problem though is that Christians believe Jesus Christ is God in the flesh, Muslims on the other hand claim to be monotheistic but like an ostrich burying its head in the sand, they are wilfully oblivious to the fact their religion requires equal surrender to Allah and to Muhammad. They thus worship Muhammad. Evidence of this is in the fact that Muhammad’s words in the Hadith usually override the Quran, for example in the abrogation of Mutah marriage or in praying five times a day, compared to the Quran’s three.
And speaking of three…
This concludes our three part expose on Muhammad and why he cannot be trusted. History proves him wrong, logic proves him wrong, ethics prove him wrong, Jewish and Christian theology prove him wrong, the gospel and the Torah (both books he affirms) prove him wrong, science proves him wrong. The only thing that has kept Islam in existence is violent, brute force, deception and the blindness of westerners and Europeans who believe everybody thinks exactly as they do and that deep down Islam is this cute and cuddly religion which is massively misunderstood and used as a scapegoat to justify terrorism and violence.
Jihad is on the rise in the west as adherents of Islam are on the increase. Our most effective weapon against it is knowledge. You can kill a terrorist but Islam would spawn a hundred more in its place. The ideology itself (i.e. not Muslims, but Islam) is the enemy and the only long term solution is to undermine belief in it by exposing it for what it really is, a pack of lies. This series is my five loaves and two fish. It is up to you to build on this foundation. Do not let yourself or your children be fooled. Islam is bent on world domination, do not be the useful idiot that helps it along in its course.
